Eureka Trails, Inc. is proud to share a major milestone for our community: the launch of our new website and a complete mapped inventory of trails throughout the Eureka and Petersville region. This project represents months of volunteer time, backcountry knowledge, and collaboration—all focused on improving access, safety, and stewardship for every user who enjoys this area.
A Central Hub for Trail Information
Our new website brings together everything riders, cabin owners, and visitors need in one place. From current projects to trail resources, the goal is simple: make it easy for everyone to stay informed and involved.
Comprehensive Trail Mapping
One of our largest accomplishments has been fully mapping the trail systems across the Eureka and Petersville area. With help from local riders, landowners, and long-time community members, we were able to map routes with accuracy and on-the-ground knowledge that only locals can provide.
These maps are now accessible on the website and will continue to evolve as we gather more data and community input.
Downloadable GPX Files for Navigation
To support safe and informed travel, we created GPX files for the primary routes and key connectors. These files can be downloaded directly to GPS devices and mobile apps, making it easy for riders to navigate the area confidently—especially during winter conditions when visibility, weather, and terrain can change quickly.
Supporting the Community Through Grant Writing
As part of strengthening our long-term capacity, we’ve also begun supporting local grant efforts. This includes assisting with Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grants, SnowTRAC funding, and infrastructure funding opportunities that will help maintain trails, improve safety, and support future public projects in the region.
What’s Next
This is just the beginning. Eureka Trails, Inc. is committed to continued mapping, community engagement, trail maintenance planning, safety efforts, and support for local emergency response resources.
We want to thank everyone who shared knowledge and contributed their time. Together we are building tools that protect access, improve safety, and support the long-term future of motorized recreation in this incredible part of Alaska.
